Applications open for UDO Rewrite Steering Committee; deadline is October 18
The City of Gastonia is inviting residents to get involved in the rewrite of its Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) by applying to serve on the project’s Steering Committee or participating in Focus Groups.
The UDO establishes regulations and standards that guide development in Gastonia. The Planning Department is leading the rewrite to review and update these regulations as the City plans for its future growth and development.
Community input is an important part of this process. Residents are encouraged to visit the project website to learn more about the UDO rewrite, explore opportunities to participate, and help inform the work ahead.
Residents who would like to contribute their perspectives and help inform the project are encouraged to apply.
Applications must be submitted by October 18, 2026.

“Gastonia is growing, and we want our residents to have a voice in how our community develops,” said Gastonia Planning Director Sushil Nepal. “The UDO rewrite is an opportunity to look ahead and make sure our development regulations reflect the needs and priorities of our community.”
