City of Gastonia administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 25 for the Memorial Day holiday. Some City services may be affected by the holiday.
Below is more information as it pertains to City services:
Garbage Collection:
- Residential garbage collection will be delayed by one business day. Monday AND Tuesday routes will be collected the following day, Tuesday, May 26, 2025.
- No yard waste or household trash
- Residents can use the personalized WasteWise app for information about City of Gastonia Solid Waste pickup schedules throughout the year.
GoGastonia Microtransit:
- No service on Monday, May 25. Visit the GoGastonia webpage for details.
Parks and Recreation:
- City parks will be open regular hours for the holiday.
- Community Centers and Senior Adult Center will be closed on the holiday.
- The Skeet & Trap Range will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Rankin Lake Boathouse will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. (last boat rentals at 7:00 p.m.)
- Splash-pads at Lineberger and Erwin Parks WILL NOT be open due to water conservation.
- Swimming pools will be open for two (2) sessions:
- Session 1: 12:30 pm-3 pm
- Session 2: 3:30 pm-6 pm

The Schiele Museum:
- The Schiele Museum will be open on Memorial Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Museum admission and planetarium tickets can be reserved in advance or purchased at the door.
