The Engineering Department oversees engineering standards for new residential and commercial development in Gastonia, including new homes and major additions. Engineering staff review development plans, permit water and sewer extensions, assign addresses, and inspect new public infrastructure as it is built.
What We Do
Subdivision & Site Plan Review
Engineering reviews and approves residential and commercial subdivisions and site plans to make sure they meet the City’s engineering standards.
Water & Sewer Permitting
Engineering administers the City’s local Water/Sewer Permitting Approval Program for new water and sewer lines.
Construction Inspections
Engineering inspects the construction of new roads, water and sewer lines, storm drainage systems, and driveways.
Address Assignment
Engineering assigns addresses for new development in the City.
Flood Studies
Engineering reviews flood study submittals for development in or near the floodplain.
