Councilwoman Angela Dreher is a native of Gastonia and a lifelong resident. On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, she was elected by the voters of Gastonia to serve the residents of Ward 4. Angela graduated from Ashbrook High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Belmont Abbey College. She also has a master’s degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
In her professional career, Angela currently serves as the case manager for the Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM) Program at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner Salisbury VA Medical Center. She has also served in various leadership roles for Supportive Housing Communities, Inc., including Director of Program Services and Manager of Special Initiatives. Angela is the founder and executive director of As One Ministries, which served more than 6,000 homeless men, women, and children, as well as provided individuals in the community with food, clothing, furniture and other services.
For her philanthropic work in the community, Angela has received numerous awards and recognitions, including Gaston County Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Award (2014), the Key to the City of Gastonia (2011), Gastonia Citizen of the Year (2004), Gaston County Woman of the Year (2003), and many others. She also serves on several boards and committees, such as Gaston County Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Angela is a proud member of the Gastonia Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a member of the NAACP.
When she is not working or serving the residents of Gastonia, Angela enjoys spending time with her four adult children and granddaughter, as well as serving others and demonstrating the Love of God. Angela is a faithful member at Mount Zion Restoration Church in Gastonia. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, swimming, reading, and attending musical concerts and plays.
