Gastonia Police Assist U.S. Marshals Service in Fugitive Apprehension

 

For Immediate Release – October 13, 2024

Gastonia, NC. – The Gastonia Police Department collaborated with the United States Marshal’s Service to apprehend a violent fugitive on Sunday, October 13th at 7:30 AM.

29-year-old Demaurea Grant was located at 212 North Highland Street in Gastonia, North Carolina.  Grant had outstanding warrants for second-degree murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon, and aggravated assault. Grant was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, with assistance from the Gastonia Police Department’s Street Crime Unit and Patrol units.

Grant was wanted for the murder of a Corrections officer in Duval County, near Jacksonville, Florida.

The Gastonia Police Department thanks all assisting agencies that helped bring a peaceful conclusion.
