Gastonia, N.C. - February 17, 2022: Gastonia Police Department (GPD) officers have arrested and charged 37-year-old Shawn Antonio Clarke, of Charleston, South Carolina, and 53-year-old Steven Edward Henson, Jr., of Gastonia, with robbery after Clarke and Henson, Jr. robbed a PNC Bank yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 2:27 p.m. on February 16, GPD officers responded to the PNC Bank located at 500 S. New Hope Road for a bank robbery that just occurred.
The investigation by officers determined that a suspect entered the bank and passed a note to a teller demanding money. The suspect obtained cash from the bank and was last seen entering the passenger side of a car and leaving the area. Officers obtained a description of the suspect, the vehicle the suspect(s) left in, and the driver of the suspect’s vehicle.
A GPD officer in the area observed the suspect’s vehicle traveling on S. Trenton Street at W. Harvie Avenue. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified Henson, Jr. as the driver and Clarke as the passenger. Officers located evidence from the bank robbery inside the vehicle.
Clarke (pictured first in below photos) and Henson, Jr. were arrested and charged with robbery.
