Gastonia, N.C. - June 21, 2022: Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department are investigating the homicide of 31-year-old Keenen Deangelo Banner of Shelby, N.C., that occurred early this morning. At this time, there is no suspect information.
At approximately 1:16 this morning (June 21), GPD officers responded to the area of the 800 block of Rankin Avenue for the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, first responders located Banner outside in front of a home on Rankin Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound. Banner was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
This remains an active investigation. At this time, there is no further information.
