Keep Gastonia Beautiful is here as a resource to provide citizens valuable information on recycling education but we do not have anything to do with the day-to-day operations of any of the Gaston County-run recycling facilities. All recycling facilities both in Gastonia and within the county are maintained by Gaston County NOT by the City of Gastonia or Keep Gastonia Beautiful.

We started this project in November 2023 and quickly met the goal of collecting 1,000 pounds of plastic film and were awarded our first bench. Find a collection bin at all 7 Gaston County Recycling Facilities. Accepted items are plastic film that is stretchy and must be CLEAN, DRY, and FREE OF FOOD RESIDUE. If the plastic is shiny and makes a crinkly/crunch noise then it is not accepted. Examples of accepted items include: Grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, plastic shipping envelopes, Ziploc & other food storage bags, cereal bags, case wraps from soda or water, pallet wrap and stretch film, produce bags, product wrap (toilet paper/paper towel), retail bags, air pillows from packages, bubble wrap, etc. To learn how your organization can get involved, reach out to Jeffie.hardin@gastonianc.gov Our first bench is located at Walker E. Reid Park (1001 S. Marietta Street)
